Ester Elias from the Israeli Embassy in the HEY/HAMBURG Interview

Ester Elias from the Israeli Embassy of our partner country 2023, Israel, talked on the main stage at HEY/HAMBURG 2023, about “Mobility Innovation Made in Israel”.

We asked her some additional questions about future mobility:

Which role models in mobility (companies, personalities, best practice) impress you and why?

In general, today we’re facing so many challenges, among them the mobility ones, within the big cities and through the country as well. As far as I concern, those who impress me are the ones that think outside the box in order to overcome these obstacles: some with brand new ideas, some with existing solutions from different topics or sectors that they convert to address this issue and some just come with blow mind ideas and changing our world from the way we knew it. To name a few Israeli companies we all know today, but back at the time their ideas looked crazy: Mobileye, Electreon, Optibus and many others.

Where is your company now in terms of mobility and where to do see your company’s development in five years from now?

Leading the economic department within the Israeli embassy, part of my job is to promote the economic relations between the Israeli industry and the German one. From my point of view, we aim to address these challenges together, where each side is bringing the best qualities to the table: Germany from one hand is bringing (among other things) its great industrial abilities and Israel, from the other hand, is contributing the innovation part – as I see it – the two economies complement each other and together we can make a better future, in mobility and in general.

Hamburg is Europe’s capital of mobility and combines mobility on land (road and rail), on water and in the air like no other city. What are you especially looking forward to at HEY/HAMBURG?

Our main goal is to increase the industrial and economic relations between the Israeli companies and the various players in Hamburg and its neighbourhood. For us, a successful event will be one, that on one side will increase the awareness in Hamburg for optional and future collaborations with the Israeli industry and, on the other side, will attract more Israeli companies to look for business oppurtunities in Hamburg and Northern Germany in general.
